Job Summary:
This position will entail providing a full range of services to students who need support surrounding academics, attendance, and social-emotional learning. As key members of our support team, the successful candidates will partner with school administrators and teachers to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for Baltimore City Public School students.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a liaison between school staff (instructional and non-instructional), parents/guardians, and students.
  • Communicates student meeting outcomes and assists with the development of intervention strategies
  • Recognize the different learning styles and student preferences.
  • Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences.
  • Use active listening strategies to allow students to determine content and pace of tutoring
  • Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve tutorial skills and continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills.
  • Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice.
  • Recognize primary role to help students become more confident, more successful, self-directed learners
  • Be direct and kind with students at the same time.
  • Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other campus and community resources as needed.
  • Gather, analyze, and maintain data and notes to determine student progress towards attendance, academic, and behavior.
  • Gathers and shares pertinent information about program activity with school stakeholders and team members at Attendance, SST, IEP, or MTSS meetings.
  • Implements the Home Visit Framework and conducts Home Visits for chronically absent and truant students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts from an accredited 4-year university or college in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field
  • Experience working with school-aged children
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in using web-based applications
  • Proficiency with school- and home-based student support systems and programs
  • Availability to work on weekends and evenings, if needed
  • Strong written and communication skills

This position will entail providing after school, literacy intervention via tutoring for English Language Learners at the International High School at Largo.

  • Work directly to support an individual student’s academic and behavioral needs based on his/her Individual Education Plan (IEP), as well as other individualized contracts/interventions.
  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting IEP goals.
  • Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to the student in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans; and ensuring the student’s access to his/her least restrictive environment.
  • Required to be willing and able to work with students whom require individual behavioral supports which could require physical intervention which may include periods of standing/sitting/kneeling; escorting students to a safe location during a behavioral event; lifting, carrying, pulling, or holding weights from 40 pounds and up.

Job Summary:
The Building Lead is responsible for providing oversight of the delivery of the mentoring and tutoring model, student activities and processes, and the management of direct reports in one of the Mentoring and Tutoring program’s school sites. Reporting to the Cluster Lead, the position ensures that all administrative operations and delivery of services are effective and streamlined. The position works closely with the Cluster Lead and Professional Student Advocates in order to meet program goals and objectives. The position leads the delivery of the mentoring and tutoring model for their school site. In addition, the Building Lead is responsible for assisting with identifying and removing school site-related barriers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Cluster Lead in the onboarding process at the beginning of each mentoring and tutoring program cycle for their school site.
  • Ensures all school-site-related required documentation (sign-in sheets, time and effort logs, attendance, etc.) is completed.
  • Coordinates site-specific activities with Cluster Lead.
  • Serves as direct supervisor for Professional Student Advocate (PSA)-Tutors.
  • Facilitates the delivery and implementation of the student incentive process for their school-site
  • Partners with PSAs to identify and remove barriers.
  • Collaborates with other Building Leads and Cluster Lead to ensure the effective execution of cluster-related goals and objectives linked to the Mentoring and Tutoring Program.
  • Develops and supports systems of effective interventions for students.
  • Establishes and implements a framework for monitoring, assessment, and evaluation of the cluster and coordinates the collation of performance data.
  • Responsible for the line management, and performance management of the school-site staff, and oversee all human resources management issues connected with same.
  • Provides regular reports and necessary documentation and representation to cluster meetings as required.
  • Serves in the role of Tutor.
  • Gathers and shares pertinent information about program activity with school stakeholders and team members at Attendance, SST, IEP, or MTSS meetings.
  • Implements the Home Visit Framework and conducts Home Visits for chronically absent and truant students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts from an accredited 4-year university or college in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field AND 6+ years of work experience in dynamic and fast-paced settings, classroom teaching/managing teams experience.
  • Master’s degree in related field AND 4 years of work experience would also qualify for this role.
  • Experience in working with schools in urban school districts preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing outcomes-based programs for students is
  • preferred.
  • Experience in delivery of educational programs whether teaching, tutoring, and/or administrative is preferred.
